This Asian country has a well-established reputation for law and order and a very orderly society. In order to safeguard people on foot, drivers are not allowed to come within 50 meters (about 150 feet) of a pedestrian who is crossing the street. That’s one law that would not work very well in a place like New York City, where crossing the street can be a hazardous endeavor.
