Unusual weather conditions in the United States in recent years has put a strain on ranchers and farmers. Decreasing supply almost always translates to higher prices at retail locations and the prices of beef are starting to demonstrate that. It’s not just the guy down the street stuffing a few T-bones in his pants and making a run for it. In some cases, the cows are stolen before they even see the inside of the slaughterhouse. In 2013 there was a significant rise in the theft of livestock, with more than 10,000 cows or horses disappearing.
