At one time it appeared that the weight loss drug Alli was about to take the world by storm. As the only weight loss drug approved by the FDA, Alli could have become the next Viagra if it weren’t for some rather inconvenient side effects. People taking the drug are encouraged to stay away from foods that have a higher fat content than the drug manufacturer recommends. That’s because ignoring that advice can lead to some rather unsettling circumstances such as “gas with oily discharge, an increased number of bowel movements, an urgent need to have them, and an inability to control them, particularly after meals containing higher amounts of fat than are recommended.” Perhaps this doesn’t elevate to the level of projectile diarrhea, but it’s still something most people would much rather avoid.
