10. Not A Friendly Bot

One of the most revolting creatures on this list is the bot fly. This charming member of the bot fly clan is known as dermatobia hominis, and it reproduces by laying its eggs on hapless horses, donkeys and the like. When the animal grooms itself it unknowingly licks up the bot fly eggs which then turn to larvae and burrow their way into the mouth, tongue, lips or digestive tract of the host animal so they can settle in and mature for a bit. They will ultimately make their way to the stomach where they will bide their time for nine months or so and then travel back to the outside world via the animal’s waste. The cycle, as most cycles normally do, then begins all over again.
