The sight of a single tarantula spider is probably sufficient to send some people into a state of near-panic. They are among the biggest, hairiest and therefore creepiest spiders there are. Just imagine the poor tarantulaphobe who is unfortunate enough to run into this scenario! There are places in the world, parts of Southern California included, where male tarantulas all come out to play at the same time. As one might expect, it’s nature’s call to reproduce that brings these amorous arachnids out of their creepy little holes in the ground to seek the irresistible female tarantula. Each autumn, the spiders go on the prowl and they’ll show up anywhere they think they may find a mate, whether that’s in the middle of nowhere or in some unlucky homeowner’s garage.
