Vampire bats are pretty nasty little critters as it is, and having an up-close and personal encounter with one is not something most of us would consider an enriching life experience. Fortunately for us humans, other animals are usually featured much more regularly on this little blood-sucker’s menu then we are. Still, a vampire bat will not pass up an easy meal just because the source happens to be a sleeping human. Making matters worse, if someone ends up being a vampire bat’s dinner some night, it’s likely that the little devil will return to the same person again and again as long as they can get away with it. Researchers have even determined that they can zero in on their previous victims by listening to the sound of their breathing!
