Since this is a disease that is contracted though a bite from an infected tick, dogs that spend a lot of time outdoors are more likely to be at risk. Lyme disease is treatable in both humans and dogs but can be difficult to diagnose, and there is some disagreement among health professionals about how it is best treated. Since Lyme disease is caused by a bacterial infection, antibiotics are usually prescribed. There are numerous symptoms that range from arthritis to heart disease, making it a potentially life-threatening condition if not treated.
