11. Come See Me Sometime

Female fireflies are not terribly good flyers due to their shorter wings, meaning that most of the fireflies you see flitting about after dark are most likely males. The males fly around in search of a mate using their flashing body to make their presence known to females, who usually position themselves somewhere high so they have  good view. When a female spots a male she takes a liking to, she flashes her signal in return, which lures the male. They will then make contact using their antennae so the male can check out the female’s “scent.” If he likes it, they will most likely mate. A lot of human males probably wish things were that straightforward for them.
