7. Electric Eels

A concern primarily for people living or visiting in South America, these critters can ruin a good day of swimming very quickly. Although they do not prey on humans, and usually stick to a diet of smaller fish and the occasional small mammal, they will become aggressive if they feel threatened. They are capable of delivering a shock that carries up to 600 volts and can kill or incapacitate an adult.
