Those who decide to take the low road to further their success making money on the internet are often extremely clever when it comes to fooling people. The story claims that an 800-pound snake was pulled from a lake in Chicago, and web users were directed to a video that supposedly shows the massive reptile. There is no video, but the people pushing this scam do use a photo of a large snake that is shown being hoisted by an excavator in Indonesia in 2012. The goal, of course, is to get users to download software, complete surveys or agree to various promotional “offers,” all of which make money for the website owners.
