There are a lot of people that realize that animals are a lot smarter and more complex than many humans give them credit for. In a remarkable scientific experiment, rats were provided with a treat when they activated a lever that was made available to them. When the lever was also configured to give another rat an electric shock, the rats would no longer activate the lever.
