9. Be Nice

This is more of a tip than a secret, but the way some people act, one might think it really is a secret. Let’s face it, some people are just jerks and that’s probably the way it will always be. Here’s a hint for people who weren’t born with burden of the jerk gene: Be nice to your server. Unless there is a reason to act like a jerk (like a server that ignores you or is a recipient of the jerk gene themselves), try to be as pleasant as possible. Remember that in most cases, these people are handling your food while they are out of your sight. There are a few servers out there who will get revenge on a customer they don’t like by doing unpleasant things to their food, so it’s always a good idea to put your best foot forward when dealing with restaurant staff.
