Many people probably do not realize that the introduction of genetically-modified foods into their diets was not preceded by any serious effort to ensure their safety. In the United States, our alleged protectors at the Food and Drug Administration classified GMO foods as “generally considered safe.” A statement like that coming from a government agency is certainly cause for concern. Numerous other countries have taken a different approach by doubting the safety of GMO foods and banning them outright.
