As we know, the Greyhound is the fastest dog and can run at speeds up to 45 miles per hour. Cats, being smaller and with shorter legs, cannot outrun the Greyhound (we’re talking about domestic cats here, not big cats like the cheetah). A typical cat can hit speeds of about 30 miles per hour but cannot sustain it for very long. Their ability for short bursts of speed helps them capture prey after they stealthily maneuver themselves into striking distance.
