Discovered deep beneath the surface of the Chihuahuan Desert is a magical place that’s home to an amazing collection of huge crystal formations. The discovery came about accidently during 2000 when miners were working to create a new tunnel in the area. It has since been learned that the massive crystals – some as long as 36 feet and weighing 55 tons – were formed when mineral-rich water was present in the cave that maintained an very stable temperature of 136 degrees Fahrenheit, which is the perfect environment for the creation of the remarkable crystals.
