4. Paying More For Less

In the state of Kansas they tax beer. We know states just love to tax things that might be considered “naughty” by some people, so this is no surprise. What’s interesting is that the lower-alcohol brews that are available these days are often taxed significantly more than traditional alcoholic beverages, which demand an 8% tax. The lower-alcohol beers, which are often sold in convenience stores is taxed at the state’s ordinary sales tax rate, which can vary by location. It’s not uncommon for “real” beer to be taxed at a lower rate than the weaker versions. Who wants to pay more for less?
