In 2002 Greece decided something has to be done about online gambling. Like so many politicians, they had little or no understanding of the internet and how it actually worked, so they enacted a blanket ban on all video games. A judge later ruled the law was unconstitutional, but the law remained on the books. Nothing is really done to enforce the law, so it’s routinely ignored. Judging by the financial problems the country has endured, it would appear that the gambling Greek politicians did with the country’s money caused a lot more harm to the people of Greece than online gambling ever could have.
