Fans of the classic holiday move A Christmas Story already know that Ralphie’s little brother Randy preferred mashed potatoes as a medium for his epic works of dinnertime art. Although he’s quite talented, Randy doesn’t hold a candle to advertisers when it comes to making this dinnertime staple look appealing, however. In fact, much of the time they use mashed potatoes as a stunt double for foods such as ice cream or some types of meat. It is easily colored and shaped to form just the look the advertiser wants to present to consumers.
