3. Expensive Road to Nowhere

The Department of International Development in the U.K. spent about £21 million on a project to build a road in Bangladesh. When they eventually realized that only 10 percent of the money they were pumping into the project was actually being used to construct the road, funding was finally cut off. One wonders who they sent to oversee the project or if they sent anyone at all.
